Drupal Camp Victoria 2009 Wrap-up
Drupal Camp Victoria has come and gone for another year. The level of Drupal understanding appears to be increasing as the presenters chose topics a little more advanced than they did the previous year. A well-rounded group of presenters and attendees provided a nice relaxed atmosphere with a little bit of something for everyone. The burgers were delicious and the sun was shining in beautiful Victoria BC and a great time was had by all that attended.
I would like to that those that attended my Friday morning session on "Social Media and Community Websites". The session went very well and though it was cut a little short I believe the group took with them some valuable information about the new direction that marketing on the internet is headed and how Drupal can accommodate us as we evolve. Those who attended were very involved and nothing makes a presentation run more smoothly than group interaction and involvement from the attendees. I have posted my Drupal Camp 2009 presentation on the Stikky Media Internet Marketing website for those of you that missed it.
While I was fairly busy with helping out the Victoria Web Design company North Studio and their group of employees that organized the event, I did get to attend a couple of presentations and was very impressed. The level complexity as well as the presenters abilities to involve the group and present in a manner that was easy to understand made the presentations easy to enjoy. A couple of my favorite presentations were: Gord Christmas: Devel, Coder & Schema Modules, Chris Shattuck: Drupal Development Evolved: From your first Drupal site to team-driven deployment, and Patrick Hayes: OpenLayers & Geo Drupal.
Many of the presenters can be found on Twitter and no doubt have some great information to share. Here are the Twitter names of some of the presenters and volunteers from Drupal Camp Victoria.
I hope to see everyone out again next year and thank you to North Studio and the Victoria School of Business and Technology for all of their efforts to make Drupal Camp Victoria 2009 a success.
